Your face gets your most careful skincare. Your hands get whatever's near the sink.
You're thoughtful about what goes on your skin. You research ingredients, layer products in the right order, and treat your face like the sensitive, reactive thing it is. And then you wash your hands for the twentieth time that day and grab whatever's on the counter.
Your hands take more abuse than almost any other part of your body — constant washing, sanitizing, cold weather, and friction. Every wash strips a little more from the barrier your skin is working to maintain. The result is hands that are dry, rough, and never quite catch up, no matter what you apply.
I know this pattern well. I've seen it in my own hands, and I've heard it from the same customers who trust YOU Skincare with their most reactive facial skin. So I did what I do with every product I formulate:
I started with the barrier science — and I built this hand cream the way I build facial skincare.
YOUR HANDS DESERVE THE SAME SCIENCE AS YOUR FACE
Most hand creams do one of two things: load your hands with heavy petroleum-based occlusives that leave a greasy film for hours, or deliver a watery lotion that evaporates before you've finished applying it. Neither one addresses the barrier. Neither one is asking the right question.
I'm Amy, the scientist behind YOU Skincare. The Restorative Hand Cream is my answer to a gap I couldn't stop noticing — a formulation built with the same barrier-science principles I apply to sensitive facial skin. Because the skin on your hands responds to damage and repair exactly the way facial skin does. It just never gets treated that way.
WHAT'S INSIDE — AND WHY IT MATTERS
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Pause on this one. Niacinamide is a facial active — one of the most well-researched barrier-supporting, skin-tone-improving, oil-regulating ingredients in all of modern skincare. I've never understood why it doesn't appear in more hand creams. Your hands are exposed to years of sun, friction, repeated stripping, and environmental stress. The same ingredient that addresses those effects on your face belongs on your hands. It's in this formula because it should be.
Fermented Reishi and Shiitake Mushroom Extracts These are the same adaptogenic botanical extracts found in the Essential Hydration Serum — included because hands that face repeated, daily stress need the same resilience support as reactive facial skin. Not decorative. Not marketing. Functional.
Urea A clinically validated humectant and keratolytic — meaning it both draws moisture into the skin and gently softens the hardened, rough texture that builds up on chronically stressed hands over time. You'll find Urea in dermatologist-prescribed dry skin treatments and barrier creams for eczema-prone skin. It belongs here, and most hand creams leave it out entirely.
Polyquaternium-51 A film-forming humectant that creates a flexible moisture barrier on the skin surface, reducing water loss between applications. It's part of why this formula keeps working after you've washed your hands again — not just immediately after applying.
Alpha-Arbutin The same brightening ingredient found in high-end facial serums. Your hands tell the story of everything you've put them through — years of sun exposure, daily wear, and the kind of aging that goes unnoticed until you look down. Alpha-Arbutin quietly addresses the uneven tone that accumulates there, the same way it does on your face.
Babassu and Rice Bran Oils Both high in linoleic acid and light in texture. They absorb rather than sit on the surface — the reason your hands feel soft instead of slippery after applying this cream.
Kokum Butter and Shea Nut Oil Kokum is one of the hardest, most non-comedogenic plant butters available. It delivers lasting comfort without breaking down into a tacky film at skin temperature. Shea provides deep nourishment for very dry or cracked skin without the heaviness that makes you avoid reaching for a cream throughout the day.
Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium PCA, and Glycerin A humectant trio that draws moisture in and helps the skin hold it — even between washes.
THIS CREAM WAS MADE FOR YOU IF:
WHO MAY WANT TO HOLD OFF
If you have an active, open skin condition or infected cracking on your hands, please consult a dermatologist before using topical products. If you are sensitive to plant-based butters, Urea, or Niacinamide, patch testing on a small area first is always the right move. And if you're expecting overnight transformation — Urea and Niacinamide are clinical, cumulative ingredients. This cream rewards consistent use, not a single application.
HOW TO USE
Apply a small amount to clean hands as needed throughout the day.
For best results: apply after washing while hands are still slightly damp — the humectants seal in surface moisture before it evaporates. Reapply after sanitizing, which strips barrier lipids as aggressively as soap. For very dry or cracked hands, apply a generous layer before bed and let it absorb overnight.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
How is this different from regular hand lotion? Most hand lotions are built around water, basic emollients, and surface occlusives — temporary relief that doesn't address the barrier. The Restorative Hand Cream includes barrier-active ingredients like Niacinamide, fermented mushroom extracts, Urea, and Polyquaternium-51 that you'd normally only find in medical-grade dry skin treatments or professional facial skincare. It's designed to support your skin's own repair process — not just coat the surface until the next wash.
Will it leave my hands greasy? No. This is specifically formulated to absorb without residue. The oils used — Babassu and Rice Bran — are lightweight and high in linoleic acid, not heavy saturated oils that sit on the skin. You should be able to return to tasks, type, or use your phone within minutes of applying.
Can I use this if I have eczema or very reactive hand skin? The formula is fragrance-free, essential-oil-free, and built around barrier-supportive ingredients — making it appropriate for sensitive and reactive skin. If you have a diagnosed skin condition or active flare, check with your dermatologist first. But the ingredient profile is designed to calm rather than trigger.
I can't get the pump to work — is it broken? Not broken — it's sealed tightly for shipping. Push down on the pump firmly while twisting it counterclockwise. You'll hear a pop when the seal releases. This keeps the pump from opening in transit.
Can I use this on my face? The formula is gentle and non-comedogenic, but it's designed for hand skin — which is thicker and has different needs than facial skin. For facial barrier repair, the Radiant Perfecting Cream is formulated specifically for that purpose.
Is this safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding? The formula contains no retinoids, essential oils, or synthetic fragrance. That said, consult your healthcare provider for personal guidance, as individual sensitivities vary.
Your hands have been doing the work. They deserve a formula that takes their skin as seriously as you take your face.
